QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -
Long time Quincy Notre Dame boys basketball coach Scott Douglas resigned at a Thursday morning press conference.

Douglas will remain at QND as Director of Spiritual Information and Religious Teacher.

Douglas spent the last 17 seasons as the leader of the Raiders, with a record of 360-136, as well as 12 regional titles, including a string of nine consecutive regional championships from 1997-2005.

"This isn't a rash decision," Douglas said. "This is just the first year I've evaluated the program that it's time (to step down.)"

Douglas also led QND to two sectional championships and two state tournament appearances in 1999 and 2004, and earned a third place trophy both seasons. In addition, Douglas had 11 seasons of 20 or more wins.

QND Athletic Director Bill Connell says Douglas' 360 wins are the most in program history. He says the search to find Douglas' successor will begin in the coming weeks.

The Raiders lost to Galesburg in this season's Class 3A Galesburg regional championship and finished with a record of 21-8.
