"Second Saturday" sales becoming a hit in downtown Quincy

Even more businesses in Downtown Quincy will be offering deals this weekend as a part of a new event.

Every second Saturday of the month, around 20 businesses host sales and other promotions. The goal is to bring more people downtown Quincy to buy from local businesses.

"You know the sales have been very, very good. And our businesses have said the first three months it's their best Saturday of the month," Travis Brown, Quincy Historic Business District Executive Director, said. "So we're hoping that trend continues this weekend."

Brown says they've already seen a great response from shoppers and businesses alike.

"We've seen everything from 10 to 15 percent off, to specials if you spend so much money you get a discount, and really just across the board," Brown said. "But a lot of our businesses are kind of taking this to heart and really making a nice day of it. Because we have seen such a great turn out here."

Brown also says the first Quincy Farmers Market of the year is set for May 14.
