Nearly 40 teams expected to walk at WIU Relay For Life event

MACOMB, Ill. (WGEM) -

Nearly 500 people are expected to take part in this year's Western Illinois University Relay For Life event this weekend in Macomb.

The event, titled "Saving the World, One Cure at a Time", begins on the WIU Quad with opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Money raised through the walk goes toward the American Cancer Society.

The event has raised nearly $10,000 and has 38 teams signed up to participate.
