Schools gearing up to keep kids safe during Prom

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Several schools across the Tri-States are gearing up for Prom this month, putting in measures to keep kids safe.

Quincy Notre Dame Principal Mark McDowell says they've had signs up throughout the school warning of the dangers of drinking and driving. To further enforce that, McDowell says there will be police presence at tomorrow night's dance.

"They'll be free to mill around as they choose. So, they can be out in the parking lot, they can be right at the door, they will certainly be on the inside during the evening and during the dance itself," McDowell said. "So, they're free to roam, much like they would at homecoming or other significant dances that we have."

McDowell encourages both students and parents to visit the QND website to read the details and expectations during Saturday night's Junior-Senior Prom.
