QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Gardner Expressway is reopened after a two-vehicle accident blocked the highway in both directions on Monday morning.

The accident happened between a semi truck and a car near the ADM plant entrance at 1900 Gardner Expressway shortly before 9:30 a.m.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office says the driver of the semi, 69-year-old Harold Flesner, pulled out in front of the car. Authorities say the car's driver tried to stop, but hit the semi trailer.

After crews used the jaws of life to open up the car, a female with moderate injuries was taken to Blessing Hospital by ambulance.

Flesner was ticketed for failure to yield.
