Hospital volunteer receives award for serving over 2,770 hours

With more than 250 members, the Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary, recognized one of their own Monday afternoon with the "Volunteer of the Year Award."

Loretta Bringer has volunteered more than 400 hours in 2012 and has served over 2,700 lifetime hours.

And, even though Bringer has been involved in community activities her entire life, she says this award is a special one.

"I like being a volunteer but I do it, not for the hours or anything, I just do it because I enjoy doing it and I feel good about doing it," said Bringer.

Bringer serves in several areas including the Gift Shop, Recruitment Chairperson, and on the Board of Director. She was presented this award in honor of her dedicated service to the Auxiliary and patients over the years.

"I really did not suspect a thing, I really didn't, I'm just really surprised. I guess you can tell now, I'm just overwhelmed," said Bringer.

Bringer lives in Maywood, Missouri and continues to serve on several different boards throughout Maywood, Hannibal and Quincy.
