Local daycare facilities are celebrating the Week of the Young Child this week to bring public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
Blessing Child Care Center kicked off the festivities on Sunday with a spring concert. Monday brought parents and a child's "special person" to the facility to spend time with kids.
"The kids love it. They love having their parents come and eat lunch with them and special people come and have snacks with them and take pictures. It's a fun week," said Betty Sprague, classroom coordinator.
The festivities continue for the rest of the week, including Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday and Family Read Night on Friday.
