While many students may be focused on the end of this school year, Quincy Public School District is already looking ahead to fall classes.
Fall of 2013 is when Common Core state standards will start being implemented.
Wednesday afternoon, staff members came together to learn more about the upcoming curriculum and how to incorporate Common Core into their teachings. With the new curriculum comes changes in what will be taught.
However, QPS officials say those changes will bring students better understanding of the material.
"Not just knowing facts or knowing information but that I can problem solve, I can analyze, I can apply, and I can figure things out." said Assistant Superintendent Trish Viniard.
The Common Core standards will start being implemented in the fall, and by the following school year students can expect a full Common Core curriculum.
