SHELBINA, Mo. (WGEM) -- Philip Dunkle had an opportunity to go elsewhere.

But in the end his heart led him back to the same place..

Dunkle told WGEM Sports on Friday morning that he plans to stay put as South Shelby boys basketball coach after considering a position at a different high school to get closer to his fiance's career endeavors.

However, Dunkle says he plans to return to skipper the Cardinals next season.

The back to back Clarence Cannon Conference Coach of the Year, Dunkle helped lead South Shelby to a conference title this past season before losing to Canton in the district championship.
