Ripley, Ill. (WGEM)--- Highway 24 just east of Ripley Illinois is still open Monday night, but flood waters from the La Moine River creep closer to the road.
Water in some places is just inches away from reaching the road.
Crews have elevated the road with gravel and placed sandbags alongside the highway in order to prevent further flooding.
But IDOT officials say if the water rises any more, they will have to close the road, and drivers will have to find an alternate route.
