QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Sean Taylor says he was flattered that Champaign Central athletic officials liked the style his Quincy High basketball program played.

It turns out Central liked it so much they were considering Taylor for their head coaching vacancy.

But Taylor isn't going anywhere. At least for the time being.

Champaign Central has hired Kansas State assistant and former Illinois assistant Wayne McClain to be its next head coach, according to multiple reports.

McClain won three consecutive state championships (1995-97) during a seven year run as head coach at Peoria Manual.

Taylor was contacted by Central athletic director John Woods recently about pursuing the job but Taylor offered no other comment on the talks.

Taylor recently wrapped up his 10th season with the Blue Devils.

During his tenure he's won 179 games, five regional championships, and four Western Big-6 titles.
