Posted:
HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Good news along the Mississippi River as the waters continue to recede in Hannibal.

The river is starting to back off from the floodgates that protect downtown.

The river now sits about two feet lower than the crest of 27.63 feet on Sunday.

As the water recedes, trash and even dead fish are left behind.
