Hannibal businesses and residents begin flood clean-up

The Mississippi River is on its way down and that means it's time for cleanup to begin.  The road leading to Sawyer's Creek was completely underwater a few days ago and left a large amount of mud behind.  Now, employees are trying to clear everything out so they can get back to business for the first time in a week.  Owner John Kenison said this isn't going to be a quick process.

"Of course it's going to take a while to clean the mud off. And that's what we're doing here every time we move the tractor to clean the mud, but it's going to take probably a couple of days to clean the mud and get the water to clean it off," he said.

Kenison said the cleanup will amount to several thousand dollars worth of costs.
