Illinois River Reaches its Crest

The Illinois River has crested, but we're not out of the woods for flooding just yet.

The Illinois River crested in Valley City Saturday at 26.6 - that's just 0.4 off of the record.

However, the National Weather Service expects the Illinois River to remain in a major flood stage for several days.

Now officials in Pike and Scott Counties say their concerns continue to be seepage and boils, as the water has been on the levees for about a week and they are becoming saturated.
