Lee County Health Department looking for new location

Officials at the Lee County Health Department are revamping their search for a new facility.

Right now, the health department is renting a location on 22nd and H Avenue in Fort Madison, but officials say with a growing staff they need more room.

The health and conservation departments had wanted to build a joint facility, but after receiving input from residents they decided to abandon that idea.

Health officials have now proposed using the land near the Lee County Sheriff's Office to build a new facility.

The Lee County Board of Supervisors must approve that proposal.
