A married couple is now homeless after a fire destroyed their home Thursday morning in Kinderhook, authorities say.
Sgt. Deputy John Pennock of the Pike County Sheriff's Office says crews from the Hull-Kinderhook Fire District responded to the call at 8:54 a.m. When they arrived at the residence located on East Grand, the home was fully engulfed.
The residents were not in the home when fire started.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal are expected to investigate the fire, but Pennock did say there is nothing suspicious about the incident at this time.
Pennock added that the home does appear to be a total loss. The Red Cross and local churches are reportedly assisting the residents of the home.
