Hannibal preparing for another Mississippi River rise

With all this rain in the forecast, Marion County Emergency Management Director John Hark is in no hurry to get remove Hannibal's flood gates.  Hark expects the river to slowly rise back up close to 23 feet, which would put the Mississippi River up to the Broadway flood gate.  Hark said because it's Hannibal, he's comfortable everyone knows what to do with rising water.

"They know what it's going to do. We'll try to notify anybody that we think it's going to affect.  And let them know. I made the rounds the other day when it looked like it was going to come back to 22.7," he said.

Hark admits he doesn't think the water will reach the Main Street Flood Gate, but he's keeping it in as a precaution.
