Macomb woman accused of trying to eat heroin to hide evidence

A Macomb woman is arrested on drug charges and accused of trying to eat heroin to hide the evidence.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Megan Goetz was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for speeding on IL RT 95 near CR 2250E.

During the traffic stop, the deputy noticed indications of narcotics activity. After reportedly seeing Goetz with drugs, they called for the police canine.

Authorities then say Goetz began to eat packages of Heroin. Deputies attempted to place Goetz under arrest. She allegedly fought with deputies and had to be restrained.

She is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 1 Gram, Possession of Hypodermic Needles, Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice.

She is currently lodged in the McDonough County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
