The Hannibal Lady Pirates hope to ride the momentum of a historic season into the post season.
HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- The Hannibal Lady Pirate soccer team wrapped up the North Central Missouri Conference title on Saturday with win in penalty kicks over Moberly at Porter Stadium.
The victory not only polished off a perfect (12-0) record in NCMC play, but it notched a program record 16th regular season win.
Hannibal head coach Eric Hill admits he didn't see this kind of dominance coming from the start, but hopes that his squad can take Saturday's win over the perinea NCMC top dog and ride that momentum into a deep post season run.
"I wouldn't have thought that we'd be able to get through undefeated," Hill expressed.
"There are always some tough teams in this conference and Moberly is obviously the one that everyone compares themselves to."
"I think the girls are going to be focused that we want to get into the post season and into districts the right way."
The Lady Pirates will be the top overall seed in their district when the tournament gets underway, and could potentially see another match-up with second seeded Moberly in the finals.
