Iowa's economy seeing a boost

Iowa's economy is the strongest in the Midwest according to a new study, and lee county officials say they are seeing a trickle down effect.

Keokuk Chamber of Commerce officials say that Lee County's unemployment numbers have decreased over the last few years and now sits at 7.7 percent.

Officials credit collaborations between the local community college and companies that developed job training initiatives to get people back to work.

"The fact that we need to prepare workers for higher levels skills to prepare them for the job that we perceive are going to be opened indicates to me a confidence, a positiveness about the economy that we haven't seen in a couple years," said Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chuck Betts.
