After a short legal battle with the City of Macomb, Steve Wailand is now officially the city's second Ward alderman.
Wailand was sworn in during Monday's city council meeting along with three other newcomers - Ryan Hansen (1st Ward), Clay Hinderliter (5th Ward) and Dennis Moon (alderman at large).
The Liberty Justice Center filed a lawsuit against the city last month on behalf of Wailand after officials refused to declare him the winner of the second ward alderman race last February. Although Wailand received 17 votes compared to opponent Kay Hill's 16 votes, city officials argued that he didn't receive the majority vote.
McDonough County Circuit Court Judge Rodney Clark presided over the case and ultimately ruled in favor of Wailand.
