Macomb High School on lockdown for routine drug search

MACOMB, Ill. (WGEM) -

Macomb High School was put on lockdown Thursday morning for a routine drug search, according to a staff member.

Secretary Jean Sawczyn told WGEM News that the Macomb Police Department brought in the K-9 unit and started to search inside and outside the building at approximately 9 a.m.

"There is no imminent danger to the students," Sawczyn said. "(The students) are safe in their classrooms.

The search includes vehicles located on school property.
