HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- Hannibal track star Trevor Stratton is taking his skills to Northwest Missouri State.

Stratton feels the school offers him the best both from an academic and athletic standpoint.

The senior standout hopes that his work ethic and determination will help him succeed at the next level.

"I'm going to push myself a lot this summer and train everyday that I can. Just get myself physically ready for the track season and more mentally ready for it," said Stratton.

Hannibal track coach Mark St. Clair believes Stratton's attitude will help him succeed at the next level.

"He's not just a good track athlete, he's a good student. And above all he's a good person. He's very polite to adults, respectful of his teammates. He wants to do well and he expects others to do well," St. Clair indicated.

Stratton heads to sectionals on Saturday as part of two relay teams and the 200 meter dash.
