Loraine Elementary School building sold for $55,000

The former Loraine Elementary School now has a new owner.

The Unity School Board accepted a bid from Tad Peter for $55,000 at Wednesday night's meeting.

Peter owns South Fork Outfitting in Mendon and says he plans on using the building as lodging for hunters.

The school was closed in 2011 due to state funding issues.

Unity Superintendent Diane Robertson says the money from the sale will go into the building and operations funds.

The sale is expected to close by June 8.
