Quincy High looks to shake off the Edwardsville curse in Friday's Class 3A regional championship.
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- It's becoming a regularity when it comes to regional championships.
No matter the sport, Quincy High and Edwardsville seems to always match wits for regional hardware.
That's exactly the scenario on Friday afternoon as the Blue Devils try and gain revenge following a regular season loss to the Lady Tigers.
Quincy High head coach Travis Dinkheller explains the keys to victory.
"The big thing that we focused on (Wednesday) night and (Thursday night) is communicating defensively, and getting into tackles and challenges," Dinkheller said.
"And when we win the ball not just giving it away, we've got to possess it a little bit and put them on the defensive side of things."
Senior Haylee McNay knows the opportunity that's at stake.
"I think we're all kind of realizing that this is our last shot and to give it our best."
According to junior Kaleigh Kuhlman, "It's very exciting for all of use especially since we haven't made it past (regionals) in a couple of years, and I think we're just excited to go out there and have a chance."
Quincy High heads to Edwardsville for a 4:30 start to the Class 3A regional championship.
