Quincy Fire Department tests fire hoses

Quincy Firefighters are making sure their fire hose equipment is ready to go when they get the call to respond.

Friday was the last of a 3 day testing of the station's fire hoses.

Firefighters say once a year they test hoses at extreme pressures to make sure everything is working properly.

And, with the fire hose being one of the most important tools a firefighter relies on, crews say it's crucial their equipment is up to speed.

"If we have a hose burst or somebody loses a hose or something like that, it can be really dangerous so, we just want to make sure all of it works,"said Firefighter Michael Dade. "We strip it off all the trucks, we take it from everywhere we have it in the station and, we test it."

During this time of year the fire department also checks fire hydrants around town to make sure they are up to code.
