Sequester cuts have hit the Quincy Early Childhood Center hard, but some young leaders are stepping up to help.
Quincy High School Leadership Class students Brianna Hagstrom and Cristen Spilker organized an art supply drive. Friday they donated three boxes of supplies and more than $300.
Brianna says when the girls heard about the cutbacks, they reached out to the community to keep art alive.
"I am not talented in art by any means, but I still love it. And I have never met a child that who doesn't like art supplies," Hagstrom said.
Julie Schuckman, the director of the Early Childhood Center, says the girls will come back this Fall to help the students with art projects.
