The nations first arts council celebrated a major milestone Friday night.
More than 100 fine arts enthusiasts turned out to commemorate the Quincy Society of Fine Arts 65th anniversary.
Guests were treated to music, drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
The event Also honored all the presidents of the organization in its 65 year history.
We talked to George Irwin, the founding president, who says he's happy to see how far the society has come.
"The arts are important in any community, and I think especially with Quincy being so small, the quality of the programs that are here and are growing are something to be reckoned with, so we just hope they keep going," said Irwin.
All proceeds from tonight's event support Quincy Society of Fine Arts grant programs.
