The Quincy Park District wants to turn holes 19 thru 27 at Westview Golf Course into a driving range and a practice facility.
The park district held a public meeting Tuesday night with an overwhelming turnout of people skeptical about the change.
But, proponents say the new facility would bring in nearly $70,000 a year, at a time where money is already tight.
"Nationwide, golf is dwindling and we want to find ways to increase revenue and to develop new golfers and make golf more family friendly by making it shorter, quicker rounds," said Matt Burry, director of golf at Westview.
The project is expected to cost around $425,000.
Matt Burry also says a final decision won't be made for several months as the board continues to look at the issue.
