Crews continue to cleanup damage in Hannibal parks

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Last week's wind storm ripped apart many trees in Hannibal's parks and the clean up process could take weeks.

Crews were busy cleaning up Riverview Park this morning, one of the hardest hit by the storm.

Riverview Park is closed to the public and all shelter reservations are canceled until further notice.

Officials want to warn residents to be careful in other parks as well.

"There's a section of Huckleberry closed down, Indian Mounds. It's a very small little park, but you can't really get into it either. Ann Dorsey Hodgdon Memorial Park has a lot of damage. Parts of the dog park are closed down," said Hannibal Director Of Parks and Recreation Andy Dorian.

Due to flooding, Andy Dorian plans to start evacuating the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center on Thursday.

The armory was shut down for more than three weeks last month.
