Quincy Public Library kicks off summer reading program

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

"Have Book, Will Travel" is the motto this summer as the Quincy Public Library's summer reading program kick-off took place Saturday.

Today's event featured dances from Heinze Dance Academy, along with Celtic music, face painting, a bounce house and more.

Those participating in the program were able to pick up books for their summer reading log and collect stamps for their "summer reading passport" to be eligible for prizes at the program's season ending party on June 25.

The Explorers program, each Tuesday from 3-4 p.m., is designed for children in grades 4-6. Seasonally-themed story times continue at QPL each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10 am.

Reservations are requested for all Library events (including all "Buckle Up For Fridays" events) and may be made in person at the Library or online at quincylibrary.org. Space is limited for some events.
