A large group of former professional athletes sign autographs for Hannibal Cavemen on Tuesday fans as part of the Shoeless Joe Celebrity Golf Outing.
HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- Before Tuesday's Prospect League game at Hannibal's Clemens Field dozens of former professional athletes kicked off the annual two day Shoeless Joe Celebrity Golf Outing.
They signed autographs and spent time interacting with Cavemen fans prior to first pitch.
The pro's have invaded America's Hometown as part of Hannibal Regional Hospital's 'Healthy Way' campaign.
It's events like these that former Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive end Art Still and former Chicago White Sox third baseman Joe Crede say are great especially with sports involved.
"For one, it's the people and developing some respect with some that I consider family," Still said.
"And then for the occasion, raising money and doing good things within the community."
According to Crede, "It's for a great cause and the Missouri Hall of Fame (is involved) and I love helping those guys out, and the causes they have. I've never been to Hannibal before and I've always heard good things about it."
Next up for the celebrities is Wednesday's golf outing at Norwoods Golf Club where they will assist Hannibal Regional Hospital in raising money for a community fitness trail.
