Honor Flight prepares to take off

The latest group of local veterans are ready to head to Washington DC as part of the Great River Honor Flight.

29 Korean War Veterans and three from World War Two gathered at John Wood Community College this afternoon for a pre-flight briefing, to hear what to expect on their free trip to our nation's capital.

From the Korean War Memorial to the Lincoln Memorial to the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, these veterans will get a chance to see it all, and they say it's a day they're looking forward to.

Here were some of their comments:

"You know, I had a good buddy that was killed in the Korean War, and I was in the Korean War, so just remember him, I guess."

"Just to see it, and talk to all these guys."

"I'd heard some of my friends do it, and felt that maybe I should take interest in it.  And they had a real good time, and that's what I'm looking forward to."

The trip is this Thursday, and you're invited to help welcome the veterans home at John Wood around 10:30.
