Despite the recent rain, the Mississippi Rive continues to recede, allowing the City of Hannibal to take out its flood gates protecting the downtown area.
Emergency Management Director John Hark says crews will take out all five flood gates beginning at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
The flood gates were put in for the second time this spring on May 28.
The river has dropped almost five feet since its crest earlier this month.
