Homeless man arrested after allegedly setting fire to garbage

A 33-year-old Quincy man was arrested on aggravated arson charges after authorities allege he set fire to garbage and placed it inside a building.

The Quincy Fire and Police departments responded to the report of a small trash fire at 5:39 p.m. Monday on the sidewalk outside of an apartment building at 436 N. Fourth. During the investigation, authorities learned that Eric J. Kithcart, who is homeless, was believed to have set the garbage on fire and then placed it inside a common hallway in the building.

Kithcart is lodged in the Adams County Jail.
