A multi-million dollar construction project broke ground in Fort Madison Thursday and officials hope it will generate tourism money.
The complex will have three fields that can be used for soccer, or football, as well as three fields for softball or baseball.
Officials say they hope it will be a boost to the local economy.
"What we're hoping is that is will help create opportunities for us to showcase Fort Madison. It will bring in some tourism dollars in regard to hosting some tournaments, so hopefully fill some of the hotels."
The project is set to be completed by June of 2014.
