Healthcare leaders gather to help address community needs

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Healthcare leaders around Northeast Missouri held a meeting tonight to talk about how to better address their community needs.  Six counties were represented as officials discussed results of a community health needs assessment.  Steering committee facilitator Julie Leverenz said this data will dramatically help in figuring out what the health needs are in Northeast Missouri.

"Healthcare is transitioning very rapidly and there is absolutely nothing more important to the individual health and the health of the region.  And in order to be successful we've got to be aligned in our understanding of those priorities so it's essential that we listen," Leverenz said.

Leverenz said the results of the assessment will be put into place in the next three years.
