LA GRANGE, Mo. (WGEM) -
Some good news for those looking to get into the lake. Wakonda beach is back open to the public. The beach was previously closed because of high levels of E. Coli bacteria. Natural Resource Manger Kyle Scott says he tests the water once a week to make sure levels are safe for swimming.
Scott says heavy rains are a big reason for the excess bacteria. Scott will test the water tomorrow and send it to the Department of Natural Resources in Jefferson City to have the water evaluated .
