Illinois held it's final practice on Wednesday in preparation for the annual Senior Softball Salute at Harry Phillips Field in Quincy.
QUINCY, IL. (WGEM) -- The annual Senior Softball Salute is set for this Sunday, July 7th.
It's a match-up that features best high school softball players in Illinois and Missouri from across the Tri-States.
On Wednesday the ladies from the Land of Lincoln held their final practice gearing up for the big game, and told WGEM Sports that playing in this game is a great way to end their high school careers.
"It's really an honor to play with these girls from all around, you know we've played against them throughout the season, so it's fun to be able to come together as a team," said QND senior Aubrey Venverloth.
"It's really exciting and an honor to be able to play, and it's a good end to softball, and it's just really exciting," added Illlini West's Addison Ufkes.
Missouri holds it's softball season in the fall, so Illinois is preparing for a very unfamiliar opponent.
"It's going to be different playing against girls we haven't played against, but that's why we're here, we're all-stars," said Western senior Rachel Motley.
"We should handle going against girls we haven't seen and do well."
The double header is scheduled for 5:00 on Sunday at Harry Phillips Field in Quincy.
