Thursday morning the Quincy community remembered the 19 firefighters lost in the Arizona wildfire on Sunday.
The Quincy Fire Department led the memorial service at the Quincy University chapel.
One by one, firefighters lit 19 candles as the names of those lost were read aloud.
Brother Ed Arambasich, Chaplain for the Quincy Fire Department, says they chose to hold the service on the 4th of July as a way to incorporate the fallen firefighters into the day of remembrance for those who died for our freedoms.
As burials begin in Arizona, the candles will stay lit for 8 days as a reminder to keep the families of those lost in prayers.
