This is the first year for the "Kindergarten Prep" program, and it's designed for children who were unable to attend a preschool or pre-kindergarten program. The program will take place at Washington Elementary on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from July 23rd through August 1st.
Students will take part in activities like counting, letter recognition, story time, and arts and crafts. Park district officials say it's also to get kids into a school-like environment. "And it is so important because by the time they're in kindergarten, they can really dive in and get used to or get the kids learning on much more advanced things like letter recognition but also into words even, because they've already got the structure down," says Jessica Cate.
To get more information or to register your child, you can go to the Quincy Park District's website or give them a call at 223-7703.
