Quincy Park Board and Golf Committee discuss changes to Westview

The Quincy Park Board reassembled a Golf Committee tonight to try to figure out how to bring more people to Westview Golf Course. The committee spoke about numerous ideas, such as holding weekly tournaments as well as possibly reducing green fees for the third 9.  However, when people do come to the course, they're not buying anything from the concessions.  Golf Committee Chairman Tom Ernst said he's seen a steady decrease of people coming out for the last few years.

"And that's a nationwide trend.  Golf is decreasing and that's what we're trying to do, we're trying to get more people interested in the game and get people who have been out of the game for a number of years back into it," Ernst said.

Ernst said this meeting was more about brainstorming rather than changing anything.  He expects a few more meetings before you can't expect to see any changes.
