Camp Point Street Project Is Underway

Posted:
CAMP POINT, Ill. (WGEM) -

Construction signs will be up in Camp Point for awhile as the town makes repairs to some streets.

This is the first street project in Camp Point in almost 6 years. The repairs will be to Ohio Street as well as 1 block of School Street. Mayor Jerry Gunn says no repairs have been done to these streets in almost 50 years and with its recent problems it was about time to get it done.

"It's held up well except for the last probably 3 years and then it just started to deteriorate fast. It just needs to be (done). It's time for it."

Gunn said the project will cost around 155-thousand dollars. He also says the next street project may take an additional 2 to 3 years to start in order to gather enough funds.
