Stay on the sidewalks when walking, Quincy police say

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

After several complaints, Quincy police have issued a warning about pedestrians in the street.

If you are crossing the street, police say you need to use a crosswalk. If one is not available, you must walk straight across the street, but yield to any oncoming traffic.

Law also prohibits pedestrians from walking in the street where there is a sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, you're required to step off the road for oncoming traffic.

Any violators face up to a $120 ticket.
