Ralls County 911 center to cease operations

Ralls County residents tried to fight to keep their 9-1-1 center open, but their efforts fell short.
Early Tuesday morning, Mike Hall, Interim Director of the Ralls County Emergency Services Board of Directors, announced that a unanimous vote was made to cease all operations at the 911 center in New London, and lay-off the remaining staff members. They lay-offs will affect 5 full-time and 5 part-time employees.
Marion County 911 has agreed to continue providing services for an additional 30 days so Ralls County residents will continue to have emergency services.

In hopes to return a 911 center to New London in the future, a public meeting will be held at Mark Twain High School in Center on Tuesday, August 13th, at 7 PM.
