Big renovation project in store for the Quincy Art Center

Art aficionados gathered at the Quincy Art Center Tuesday afternoon,  to get a yearly report on how the organization is doing and about plans for the future.

Executive director Julie Nelson reports that along with their exhibits and programs, many of their art classes have become extremely popular. Some are even doubling in size.

She says they are also starting to offer life drawing every week.

As for this upcoming year, Nelson says very soon they will begin a new renovation project. "Primarily with the historic carriage house building, we're going to have a new exit put in so that we can have more people in that room according to the fire marshal, and also some renovation of historic things - like the barn doors. We'll strip off panels that were put in a long time ago so you can see the real thing," she said.

Nelson says she hopes the construction on the carriage house would be completed by the end of 2013.
