Leon Bailey Park renovations complete

After months of planning and construction, the newly renovated Leon Bailey Park is now ready for play!

Tuesday night was the official ribbon cutting - by park district officials and members of the bailey family. The park features several "stand alone" pieces of equipment, including new swings, a merry-go-round, and climbing bars - which park district officials say they hope cater to kids of all ages.

Leon Bailey's widow Georgia says she's so pleased with how the renovations turned out, and she thinks her husband would have been too. "It makes me feel good, and if he was living I think he would be well pleased. He loved his community and he loved the children. I just feel good seeing them playing, and they're all having fun," she said.

Park hours run from a half hour after sunrise to a half hour before sunset.
