Thousands of tourists are expected to come to Nauvoo this month for the annual tribute to Joseph Smith.
The Nauvoo Pageant Bagpipe Band entertained tourists Thursday morning as part of the festivities.
Another major attraction is the Nauvoo Pageant. Organizers hope tourists can learn about the town's history and it's impact on the Church of Latter Day Saints.
"The Nauvoo Pageant really tells the story of the LDS in Nauvoo from 1839 to 1846 and their story of what went on in Nauvoo," said Kim Orth, executive director of Nauvoo tourism.
Festivities run through August 3. For a complete schedule of events go to www.beautifulnauvoo.com.
