Bicycle safety is on the minds of many riders in the Quincy area.
Thursday night, a group of cyclists gathered at Madison-Davis bike shop to hear mayor Kyle Moore read a proclamation for bicycle safety month.
The mayor says more awareness is needed to help keep both cyclists and motorists safe on the road.
Quincy Bike Club President Laura Sievert says this proclamation is only the first step to boost safety.
"Just to have a little community focus right now on the idea of people being out and using the roads, whether it's runners or cyclists or even motorcycles on the road safety is clearly a huge concern," said Sievert.
As part of the proclamation, Saturday, August 17 will be Bicycle Safety Day in Quincy, that coincides with the Friends of the Trails Fun Ride happening that day.
