QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- Every couple years it seems Quincy University men's basketball coach Marty Bell has to make a change on his bench.

In his decade leading the Hawks - Jay Driscoll, Luke Strege, and Jon Perry - have all assisted Bell for a few seasons and moved on.

And now it's Jestin Anderson's turn.

For the first time during his QU tenure Bell has hired one of his former players to be his top assistant.

Anderson returns to Quincy after playing at Pepsi Arena from 2003-06 and helping the Hawks to a pair of NCAA tournament berths.

"I am well aware of the tradition of Quincy University basketball," Anderson said through the university.

"Coach Bell has done a remarkable job with this program and I am truly honored for the opportunity to contribute to its continued success as an assistant coach."

Anderson earned his master's degree as a graduate assistant for two seasons at QU before heading to the junior college coaching ranks for five years.

"His experiences in coaching over the past few years outside of QU will serve our program well as we forge ahead," Bell explained.

Anderson replaces Jon Perry who took a job on the staff at Navy.
